Season Recap: Week 2 – ALABAMA

To help start off this blog, I am going to do a quick recap of each game from this season, up to the present week 8. The second issue of this series covers Vanderbilt playing at their second historic stadium in a row, against the Crimson Tide of Alabama.

I really don’t remember what I was doing this weekend. I know that I did not go to the game. I’m actually not sure that I followed this game at all… After reading back through the game recap, I do remember this game a little bit better, and I think I may have watched it on TV. Vandy accumulated a 10-3 lead going into halftime, and didn’t score again as the Tide got another field goal and a touchdown to take the game 13-10. Chris Nickson threw 3 interceptions, including on the final play of the game to help the ‘Dores fall to 0-2. Alabama’s kicker, Tiffin, kicked two field goals (37 and 47 yards), as this was prior to his implosions later in the season against Arkansas, et al.

Overall, this was the first close loss of the year for Vanderbilt, which seems to have written the book on how to play competitively but not be able to seal the deal at the end.
