Season Recap: Week 3 – ARKANSAS

To help start off this blog, I am going to do a quick recap of each game from this season, up to the present week. The third installment features Vanderbilt’s first home game of the year, against the Arkansas Razorbacks.

This game was also a heartbreaker for Commodore fans, as Vanderbilt used dropped interceptions, blown calls, and a missed field goal to help them achieve this defeat.

Vandy was playing down the whole game thanks to a missed extra point at the beginning of the game.  Later, Vanderbilt had 6 points stolen from them when the now infamous Rick Loumiet ruled an incomplete pass on an obvious lateral.  Arkansas managed to score a touchdown on that drive, which resulted in a possible 14 point swing right there.  Towards the end of the game, Reshard Langford dropped an interception when he had an open path to walk into the end zone, costing the Commodores another 6 points when they were down 21-19.  The final blow came with under a minute left when Bryant Hahnfeldt’s 48-yard field goal attempt fell one yard short as the winds increased as he was kicking.

This was a hard game for the team and the fans, as Vanderbilt squandered many chances to get a win against what has turned into a high-quality opponent.  I was not at this game because I already had a ticket to Austin City Limits.  So, I watched other games on TV during lunch with another Vandy fan, a UT(Austin) fan, an LSU fan, and a Texas A&M fan.  I followed the Vandy game on my cell phone and provided my own animated commentary with each update.  This definitely resulted in some strange looks from around the bar, but you do what you have to do!

Less frustrating than watching this week’s game.
